R.I.P Corrine Day

Corrine Day was most recognised for her images of a young Kate Moss in the early nineties and introducing a raw style of photography which had not been seen since the late 1970's when the likes of Guy Bourdin and Helmut Newton were producing similarly controversial and less conventional shots of their subjects. The eighties and early nineties where all about beauty and glamour, until Corrine Day brought a more down to earth and documentary quality to her fashion images.
Famed for the introduction of what the media branded as 'Heroin Chic', Day produced 'gritty' and 'dirty' images portraying the realism of youth culture. This honest representation which moved away from fashion's preconception of beauty caused offence to some, but others found the relevance of her imagery refreshing and it began to shape a new era of the 'Supermodel' and Fashion.

Corrine Day was an inspiration, it was her images that grew my love for fashion, her work was always so wonderfully and naturally shot and her portrayal of what was beautiful showed refreshing imperfections and a realism which will forever continue to influence my ideas.

Here is a selection of some of my favourite Corrine Day images...

Guy Aroch

Guy Aroch is one of my favourite photographers of this past decade. From Israel and based in New York his impressive portfolio spans across influential titles such as Harpers Bazaar, Interview, Nylon, Vogue, Allure, Tatler and French Magazine. His style is breathtakingly dreamy and his models appear sassy, sexy and full of personality.

I found it difficult to narrow down my favourite shots so here’s a whole host of his wonderful work…
